Les Musiciens du Louvre-Grenoble - Marc Minkowski

Les Musiciens du Louvre - Grenoble
Conducted by Marc Minkowski
Joseph Haydn, Symphony no. 103 in E flat major, “Drum roll” (1795)
Symphony no. 104 in D major, “London” (1795)
The eclectic French conductor Marc Minkowski and the Musiciens du Louvre –Grenoble mark the two hundredth anniversary of the death of the “father of the symphony”, Josef Haydn (1723-1809), with a performance of two of the Austrian composer’s celebrated “London” symphonies. Inspired by the British capital’s exceptional orchestras and exquisite concert halls, the twelve symphonies Haydn premiered in London between 1791 and 1795 are among his finest works. Mature examples of classic symphonic form, these compositions develop around simple and breath-taking melodic lines.
Les Musiciens du Louvre – Grenoble receive financial support from the city of Grenoble, the General Council of Isère, the Rhône-Alpes Region, and the French Ministry of Culture and Communication (DRAC Rhône-Alpes).
